The relationship between food and desire has been present across multiple cultures throughout history. Aphrodisiac Cookery: Ancient & Modern (1966), by Greg and Beverly Frazier, brings together traditional recipes crafted to awaken the senses. However, over time, many of these practices—deeply rooted in spirituality and a connection to nature—have gradually faded. The industrialization of food and the growing detachment from natural cycles have contributed to the loss of these rituals, which once played an essential role in everyday life.

Evolving ideas about gender and expectations in modern relationships have also shifted how we view these traditions. The fight for equality has led to questioning customs that, in some cases, reinforced unfair roles. Yet this change has also opened the door to rediscover aphrodisiac practices from a new perspective, where desire is embraced as an expression of freedom and personal power. The exhibition Festín, made up of women artists, revisits this ancestral knowledge and gives it new meaning in the relationship between the culinary and the carnal, exploring the evolution of sensuality in food over time.

This exhibition is an invitation to rediscover the magic of food as a symbol of pleasure and human connection. Through a contemporary and feminine lens, it encourages us to question our relationship with food, love, and spirituality, reclaiming traditions that can enrich our present. In this dialogue between past and future, the exhibition invites us to celebrate the diversity of expressions of desire and to reconsider the role of rituals in our lives today.
